Our Climate Action Plan

Our Climate Action Plan

At Picture, protecting the outdoors has been at the heart of what we do since 2008. We love skiing, surfing, exploring, and spending time outside. But as the impacts of climate change become increasingly visible, we know that loving the outdoors also means taking action to protect it.

That’s why we created our Climate Action Plan. It guides how we’ll reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our business and value chain through 2032. Our plan aligns with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C and focuses on where we, as an outdoor apparel brand and a community of outdoor lovers, can make the biggest difference.

Our Climate Goals

Our ambition is to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2032. Emissions from our offices and stores make up only a small part of our footprint. Most of our impact comes from the materials we use, how our products are made, and how we transport them.

In other words, the biggest changes need to happen beyond our own walls. Here’s where we’re focusing our efforts.

Choosing Lower-Impact Materials

The materials used to make our products are one of the largest contributors to our carbon footprint. We are committed to increasing the use of preferred materials across our collections.

Our goals include:

·         Using organic cotton in all cotton garments.

·         Using recycled polyester or recycled nylon in all synthetic garments.

·         Designing products with preferred materials, with recyclability in mind, and built to last.

Working with Our Suppliers

Climate action isn’t something we can tackle alone. Our products are made through a global supply chain, and meaningful emissions reductions will take collaboration at every step. Over the coming years, we will work closely with our manufacturing partners to:

·         Encourage suppliers to measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions.

·         Support and co-develop climate targets with suppliers.

·         Explore opportunities to increase the use of renewable energy in production facilities.

·         Improve transparency throughout our supply chain through traceability and data collection.

By working together, we can accelerate emissions reductions beyond our own operations.

Reducing Transport Emissions

Getting our products from factories to the people who wear them also has a climate impact. So, whenever possible, we want to avoid unnecessary emissions along the way.

We’re committed to keeping air freight to an absolute minimum by planning and prioritizing lower-carbon transportation options. Today, 95% of our goods are transported by sea, and we’ll continue to prioritize maritime shipping.

Designing Products That Last

The best gear is the gear you keep reaching for, season after season (and maybe even for a lifetime!).

We’re working to make our products more durable so they can keep up with your adventures for longer. Through thoughtful design, repair services, and our lifetime repair guarantee, we want to help keep our products in use rather than replace them.

Expanding Circularity

Why make something new when we can get more life out of what already exists? Extending the life of our products is an important part of reducing their environmental impact.

Our Climate Action Plan supports the growth of circular business models, including:

·         Product repair and our lifetime repair guarantee.

·         Rental services.

By keeping products in use for longer, we can reduce demand for new resources and give our community more ways to enjoy the gear they love.

Measuring Our Progress

A plan is only as good as the action behind it. And without measuring our progress, how would we know if we’re moving in the right direction?

We’ll regularly review our greenhouse gas emissions, track progress against our targets, and update our action plan each year. We know that meaningful change takes time, but transparency and accountability are part of the journey.

Conclusion

There’s no single solution to climate change. Making a real difference takes innovation, collaboration, and a long-term commitment to doing things better.

Our Climate Action Plan is one step in that journey. From choosing lower-impact materials and working with our suppliers to keeping products in use for longer and reducing emissions across our business, we’re focused on making measurable progress toward a more resilient future for people and the planet.

We know there’s still work to do. We’re here to keep learning, keep improving, and share our progress along the way.

Because if we want to keep riding, exploring, and enjoying the outdoors for generations to come, we need to do our part to protect it.
