Since 2008, we have been creating organic, recycled & bio-sourced products for snowboarding, skiing, surfing and the outdoors. This will never change.
WE ARE PICTURE
“When we launched Picture in 2008, sustainable development and conservation of the environment were strong values that we deemed absolutely necessary to build into the brand.”
“At that time, we really didn’t know very much about responsible textile manufacturing !
Today, our goal is to be fully committed to being responsible with the whole cycle of our products: the design, raw materials, the making, the use, the 2nd life and end of life. Join us on this adventure !”
Julien, Jeremy & Vincent
WE ARE ECO-DESIGNED
The fall will be softer
Scrap fabric is typically burned, which has disastrous carbon impact on the environment. That is why we recover and re-use all production scraps and raw materials from our manufacturing partners, who meet the Picture quality criteria.
These scraps and waste are then used to assemble unique, brightly colored and randomly assembled jacket liners.
WE ARE ORGANIC
95% of our cotton collection is made at the Seyfeli Factory in Izmir, Turkey. Products manufactured there are made of organic cotton – either GOTS or Organic Content Standard certified. Since the creation of Picture in 2008, we have worked with Seyfeli, a medium-sized factory, that has grown as we’ve grown.
The remaining 5% are made in India with recycled cotton for products such as shirts and chinos pants.
Organic cotton farming does not use GM seeds, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. It preserves biodiversity, restores and builds up the soil, and saves a lot of water.
An organic farm produces 94% less carbon emissions than conventional
WE ARE RECYCLED
All of our technical products are made from a minimum of 50% recycled polyester from plastic bottles. We use Greenplus Taiwan certificatin to guarantee recycled rates of each product and Bluesign Approved Fabric to guarantee that they do not contain harmful chemicals.
5 steps from a plastic bottle to a polyester fabric :
Plastic PET Bottles are picked up and sorted by type and color
They are stripped of their labels and caps. Then, they are washed, crushed and chopped into flakes.
The flakes undergo a second melting and are made into consistently shaped pellets.
The pellets are melted and extruded to make fiber. The fiber is crimped, cut, drawn and stretched, then baled.
The baled fiber is processed into fabric, and the making of a Picture Jacket can begin!
WE ARE TRANSPARENT
Here is the list of all the factories we are working with. We visit each of them two to three times per year, and they are all engaged in an improvement process with Fair Wear Foundation.
We are convinced that working on a long-term partnership with factories is the key to find sustainable solutions.
LiLian - Dong Guan, China
LiLian has his own energy management system. Between 2014 to 2016, while the production volume has increased, LiLian electrical usage dropped about 35% from 600000 units to 440000 units.
Significent eco-improvements made those last years:
-Energy Efficient Lighting
-Installation of Water Curtains
-Installation of Skylights
-Thermal Power Plant
Atelier Cenyo - Châtillon-en-Michaille, France
Short sourcing system: polyester fabric knitted in Lombardie, Italy, then transformed at Cenyo, Rhône-Alpes, France.

Sheico - Rayong, Thailand
SHEICO manufactures 4.5 million wetsuits a year. We found together 2 new alternatives to the classic Neoprene: NaturalPrene and Limestone.
If all of Sheico's customers would choose to use these green technologies, we could reduce an extraordinary 12.1 million kg of CO2 emission every year.
Siyarams - Mumbai, Inde
Nantong Foremost - Nantong, Chine
Strategic Sports - Dong Guan, China
Yupoong - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Hong Kong Love Fashion - Hong Kong, Chine
Skyrun - Yangzhou, Chine
Topption Ltd - Taipei, Taiwan
They all signed the Picture RSL, a list of chemicals banned from our products, according to the REACH standard.
Before putting products on the market, we do random test to ensure that the RSL is fully respected.
WE ARE PFC-FREE
100% of our technical products using water repellent treatments are now PFC Free.
PFC (perfluorocarbons) are chemicals that are used in technical garments to make them water repellent.
PFC are chemicals that are released into the air when making and using a product. They are harmful to the environment and people.
Our alternative is the renewably sourced Teflon EcoElite™ Technology.
